The case for a wool abaya in a hot country
Most women in the Gulf don't buy wool. I get it — it's hot for eleven months. But there's a case for exactly one wool abaya in the wardrobe, and the Jameela is ours.
The case is: you travel. You go to London in March, New York in November, Istanbul in January. You land in a city that is 12 degrees with drizzle and you need something that moves you from the airport to a dinner without collapsing into creases.
A crepe abaya won't do it — too thin. A cotton abaya will wrinkle. A wool-blend abaya keeps its line, holds warmth, and brushes off light rain.
The Jameela is 70% Italian wool / 30% polyester, milled in Biella. The poly in the blend isn't a compromise — it's what lets the wool keep its shape after being folded in a suitcase. Fully satin-lined so you can layer a knit underneath without the wool biting.
When not to buy it: for UAE daily wear. It'll feel heavy year-round, even in December. Stick with our Zahra crepe or Dilara viscose for everyday.
When to buy it: one for the trips. It'll last ten years.
